Core of the memory of a people and of a time, the Jewish Quarter of Prague remains vivid in the mind of its inhabitants through its famous myths and legends, such as that of Rabbi Löw and the Golem, but also in the European folk memory through its influence on art, on the European culture and thanks to the legacy left to us by Franz Kafka, Marx Brod and many others.
The tour enables to discover the story of the Jewish community from the 10th to the 20th century, one of the most significant minorities in Bohemia before the Holocaust. The collections exhibited in the Jewish museum belong to the World’s most impressive, they enable to comprehend the art, customs and traditions of the Jewish people in Central Europe. The Holocaust tragedy is remembered with a Memorial, a deeply moving place of memory. You will also pace up and down the intertwined paths of the Old Jewish Cemetery, admiring the historical gravestones and feeling the poetry that invades the place.
