The church belongs to the czech religious order Knights of the Cross with the Red Star.
The church was designed by the French architect Jean-Baptiste Mathey. Among his other Prague realizations belong Troja Chateau, Prague Castle Riding School or the rebuilding of the Archbishop's Palace. The decoration of the church was done by leading artists of the time – e.g. famous Baroque painter Vaclav Vavrinec Reiner – his impressive fresco of Last Judgment on the ceiling of the almost 41 meters high dome is worth a special mention.
During the one hour evening concert you will enjoy a spiritual music of Czech and World famous Baroque and Classicist masters, performed by one organist and two other soloists. The local organ is the second oldest in Prague and it will certainly surprise you with its location right next to the high altar. The combination of very good acoustics and the spirit of this marvelous place will give you a serenity moment.
We suggest you to get there a little before the concert, so you'll be welcomed by fanfares played by two trumpeters in front of the church. This performance takes palce 30 minutes before the concert.
Recommendation: After the concert certainly do not rush out and take advantage of exploration of this magical place.
