The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, in Prague’s dynamic Holešovice district, is a multi-purpose space established through the conversion of a former factory. In 2008, the building was nominated for the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Architecture Prize, one of the factors testifying to the excellent quality of its contemporary architecture. DOX specialises in exhibitions of modern Czech and international art that critically reflect on current social issues.

If you’d like to get to know a modern part of Prague that has been transformed in recent years, visit Holešovice. What’s more, the neighbourhood has been widely acclaimed by designers, architects, advertising agencies and creatives in general, and DOX symbolises the district’s revitalisation. A privately run-institution, the Gallery is part of a wide international network of partnerships. As a result, DOX is one of the best places to see contemporary (not only visual) art in Prague today. Besides an exhibition space, covering more than 3,000 m², DOX houses a café, bookstore, and shop.

The latter, called DOX by Qubus, focuses on essential icons of Czech glass, porcelain and jewellery. You’ll find an excellent selection of books on modern art, architecture and design at the BENDOX Bookstore. The café is located on the second floor, and you can also sit on the terrace.
