In 2025, the Christmas markets will take place from 20 November 2025 to 6 January 2026, across several squares of the capital :

• Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) : 29 November 2025 – 6 January 2026
• Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) : 29 November 2025 – 6 January 2026
• Republic Square (náměstí Republiky) : 25 November – 24 December 2025
• Peace Square (náměstí Míru) : 20 November – 24 December 2025
• Tylovo Square (Tylovo náměstí) : 26 November – 24 December 2025

Opening hours : 10 AM–8 PM (náměstí Míru, Tylovo náměstí, náměstí Republiky) and 10 AM–10 PM (Václavské náměstí, Staroměstské náměstí — food stalls until midnight).

The Grand Old Town Market

The most beautiful and largest market takes place on Old Town Square. A huge Christmas tree, a nativity scene, and 82 wooden chalets form the beating heart of the festivities. Each evening between 4:30 PM and 9:30 PM, the tree lights up with music and color. The decorations reflect Czech traditions, with angel arches and many photo spots.

Christmas Shopping and Handicrafts

Prague is a true paradise for Christmas shopping. You’ll find :

• Hand-blown and hand-painted baubles, wooden or corn-husk garlands
• Mistletoe wreaths, traditional františek incense
• Wooden or ceramic nativity scenes, embroidered linens, crocheted toys
• Wooden, clay, or plaster marionettes inspired by Czech theatre
• High-quality wooden toys
• Bohemian crystal, known for its purity and elegance
• Bohemian garnet, a unique deep-red gemstone found only in this region

Tip : take time to compare — some shops sell lower-quality imitations.

• Vánočka (braided sweet bread), vanilla crescents, decorated gingerbread, nut cookies
• Czech sausages, grilled cheese, pancakes, mini doughnuts, chocolate fruit skewers

• Mulled wine (svařák), mead, punch, hot apple juice

Non-alcoholic drinks are served in recyclable rPET cups to reduce environmental impact.
