500 Restaurant

From 1920, the U Písecké brány (At the Písek Gate) pub stood at this address, a reference to the Baroque monument only a few steps away. Today, the atmosphere is more modern: the two-storey interior is dominated by the canary yellow Fiat 500 suspended over the bar: the restaurant takes its name from the vehicle.

The menu at 500 is predominantly Mediterranean, most obviously seen in the pizza selection. Other items reflect the Italian theme too, not least the side orders, which include polenta, grilled vegetables, semolina, gnocchi and pasta.

At 500, the staff are pleasant and helpful, and this fact, combined with the attractive interior and well-crafted dishes, makes the restaurant a good choice for lunch or dinner after a visit to Prague Castle.
