This Vinohrady sweet shop, café and patisserie is furnished in the light-hearted style typical of the 1920s, the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. Šlágr has built a reputation based on its sweet treats: choose from over 50 varieties, including gateaux, yeast-based tarts and marble cake. On the premises you can spoil yourself with coffee – choose from 25 varieties – and cakes. Or, you can also take something away, or have it delivered. And to make the period-style experience, you can listen to musical hits of the era, and savour a sweet concoction made from a recipe popular in our great-grandmothers’ day.

If you come for breakfast or brunch, you don’t necessarily have to opt for a sweet option. At Šlágr you can even order Utopenci (“Drowned Men” or sausages in brine). But rest assured that they haven’t been there since the First Republic era, i.e. 100 years ago!
