Visit the historical center of Prague with a professional English speaking guide at your disposal
Discover the medieval remains of Prague’s oldest district, often hidden from tourists
Includes: a professional English speaking guide, entrance to the Charles Bridge tower on the Old Town side, and a short boat ride on the Vltava River (about 45 minutes) during which refreshments are served
The result of spontaneous medieval urbanization, the Old Town was the seat of merchants’ guilds that gradually acquired autonomous status, and saw the establishment of the University of Prague, one of the oldest in Europe, as early as the 14th century.
Its extraordinary network of winding streets, small squares and passages that developed around the market places will lead you from discovery to discovery. The elegant baroque facades often conceal buildings with much older walls and cellars, and traces of the Romanesque and Gothic eras remain visible to those who know how to look for them.
At the heart of this labyrinth, the huge Old Town Square remains the symbolic center of this district with the famous astronomical clock, its numerous baroque medieval palaces, and the two towers of Our Lady before Týn.
At the end of the tour, a boat ride on the Vltava River will allow you to touch the old stones of the Charles Bridge and the former Judith Bridge, and to read the signs of its builders. From the tower of Charles Bridge, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of a hundred spires.
