According to travel website TripAdvisor, Prague Zoo is the fourth most popular zoo in the world. Don’t miss it when you’re visiting the Czech capital.
Prague Zoo is located in the northern part of the city, in the peaceful, leafy Troja district. Within walking distance from the zoo, Prague Botanic Gardens and Troja Chateau are also worth visiting.
The zoo covers an area of almost 60 hectares, is crossed by 10 kilometres of paths, and is home to almost 700 species, some of which are exceptionally rare. The animals are presented in environments designed to be as close as possible to their natural habitats. In a blink of an eye, you’re transported to a tropical rainforest, an African desert or the South American pampas. The attractions include Monkey Islands, Gorilla Pavilion, Indonesian Jungle, Elephant Valley, Bird Wetlands, and many more.
The zoo regularly organises various entertainment and educational events for visitors both young and old. For example, we recommend the commentary on feeding times or the sea lions going through their exercises. And when you want to take a break from exploring the animal kingdom, you can go by chairlift to the northern part of the zoo. There, you can take in the views from the 18.5-metre high observation tower.
Prague Zoo has something for everyone to enjoy, and you’ll have fond memories of the day you spent there.
You can also reach the zoo by steamer. Boats depart from April to October, up to 3 times a day, from the quay at Rašínovo nábřeží embankment or from Čechův most bridge.Maéva
