Trafo Gallery

In recent years, many of the markets at Tržnice in Holešovice have been significantly transformed, as their original commercial functions have switched to cultural uses. Thus, today, many people visit Tržnice to see the theatre and new circus in the former slaughterhouses (Jatka 78), as well as the design market (Mint Market), and exhibitions of contemporary art.

Covering almost 200 square metres, the Trafo Gallery opened in Hall numbers 14 and 18 at the beginning of 2016. It showcases talented Czech contemporary artists working across a range of disciplines. Many have partnered with the Trafo Gallery for more than a decade, and during this time it has moved to new exhibition space three times. Each venue has always provided studio facilities for artists.

When you are at Tržnice, you can also visit Jatka 78. Even if you don’t attend a performance there, it’s definitely worth seeing the entrance area, which has an original design and is used for bars and exhibitions. So, make your way to Hall number 7!
