Finding Vítkov Hill in Prague is very easy – a giant equestrian statue of Jan Žižka of Trocnov stands on the summit. It was erected to commemorate the famous battle of Vítkov, in 1420, in which Žižka, with a handful of warriors, fought off the first crusade against the Hussites.

In addition to Žižka’s statue, occupying the space in front of the National Monument, there is also an extensive park in Vítkov, suitable for various outdoor sports activities: running, in-line skating, and cycling. There is also an outdoor gym, and a playground in the park.

As with many other elevated spots in Prague, Vítkov offers wonderful panoramas of the city skyline.

Žižkov

If you need to shorten your route from Karlín (Thámova) to Žižkov (Tachovské náměstí) or vice versa, you can use the Žižkov tunnel, a pedestrian underpass, which was built under Vítkov Hill in the mid-20th century.
