Main description

The picturesque small medieval town of Český Krumlov is located on the banks of the River Vltava in South Bohemia and enjoys global renown. The historic centre, above which towers the colourful chateau tower, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

You’ll visit the castle, which dates mostly from the 16th century and is one of the largest chateau complexes in Europe. You’ll see beautiful interiors, Renaissance rooms with wall frescoes depicting the power of the Lords of Rožmberk, and Baroque chambers containing original furniture of the Schwarzenbergs, the last owners of the castle.

After visiting the castle, you can enjoy a short tour of the historic centre of the town.

  • Please arrive at the meeting point at least 20 minutes in advance
  • The Český Krumlov Castle is closed from November 1 to March 31
  • The castle stands on a hill, about 1 km walk from the parking area
  • The excursion includes 2 hours 30 minutes of free time
  • In winter, as the castle is closed, the tour includes a three-course lunch in a local restaurant; in summer, enjoy your free time to have lunch as you wish
  • In winter, lunch menu selection is made in advance at departure from Prague
