The Best Ice Cream in Prague

Ovocný Světozor

As far back as the 1970s, Ovocný Světozor has been a household name in Prague. The confectionery was opened during the Communist era and it has been a popular destination for the locals, especially the ones with a sweet tooth. Its popularity still holds to this day. In the summer, expect long queues, but your patience will be greatly rewarded. Perhaps, with a delicious strawberry and banana ice cream cone?

Our tip: Prague residents like to enjoy it in the Franciscan Garden.

Zmrzlinář (Ice Cream Man)

For excellent ice creams without any preservatives, head to Zmrzlinář, the biggest Hipster ice cream store in Prague. You can look forward to the 4 most popular flavours - chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and pistachio – available at all times, plus another 12 flavours that regularly change, depending on the season.

Half of the ice creams offered are sorbets, which are suitable for vegans and anyone with lactose or gluten intolerance.

Puro Gelato

Apart from offering 100% natural ice cream, without any additives, Puro Gelato’s ice cream parlour lures customers with a wide range of non-traditional seasonal flavours, including salty caramel, cucumber or poppy. The owner, a real ice cream enthusiast, studied the recipes in Italy and introduced them to Prague, where they have been reaping success.

The ideal place, if you happen to crave an ice cream right in the heart of the Old Town or on the banks of the Vltava, near Vyšehrad.

Gelateria & Caffé Amato

This confectionery, in the very heart of Letná, offers traditional Italian ice cream prepared from natural ingredients. The interior does not really lure you to sit and have the ice cream on the premises, so, we prefer to take the ice cream with us and enjoy it in the sunshine in Stromovka Park or in Letná Park.

Angelato

This famous Italian ice-cream chain has two branches in Prague - to our great pleasure. You can choose from a wide range of flavours that will surely hold good on hot summer days in Prague. Our favourite is definitely the lactose-free ice cream, and of course, the excellent coconut sorbet.

Nanuky Míša – Míša’s Lollies

The Czech brand, Míša’s Lollies, has been selling in stores all over the Czech Republic since 1962. And in all this time, the recipe has not changed! This traditional delicacy contains vanilla ice cream made from cream and homemade cottage cheese, covered in dark chocolate. It is available at the ridiculously low price of 20 CZK (approximately EUR 0.85). Need I say more? When you take a walk through Prague, do remember to try this 100% Czech ice cream.
