The James Joyce Irish Pub

The menu of this Irish pub, the first of its kind in Prague, is quite heterogeneous. It is not so much a choice on the part of the owners as a historical evolution: the excellent Irish-Malaysian chef Sofia Smith left a deep Asian imprint, notably with her spicy madras chicken or even her Thai shrimp curry, which remained on the menu after his departure from James Joyce, and which is still prepared according to his recipes. Hamburgers, steaks and, essential in an Anglo-Saxon establishment, fish and chips with pea puree are other great classics on the menu. To remind you of the fact that you are in Central Europe, there will only be the homemade tartar sauce that accompanies all these dishes; As for vinegar, it is available at will. Fans of traditional Irish cuisine will particularly appreciate the Banger and mash, i.e. small sausages imported from Western Ireland and served with mashed potatoes. Shepherds pie, which combines minced lamb meat flavored with fine herbs with mashed potatoes, or beef stew, a long-simmered Guinness stew, are all traditional local dishes. which appear on the menu at James Joyce. The pub is a favorite meeting point for British and Irish expats.
