Catch a performance at the founder of modern black light theatre – Jiří Srnec.
At Antología (Anthology), a retrospective show, the title of which literally means “bringing back the magic to the stage”, you’ll see the very best of black light theatre.
Black light theatre began to develop in Czechoslovakia thanks to the works of Jiří Srnec, the creator of
unrivalled shows such as The Magic Circus of the Laterna magika (The Magic Lantern), which gave 6,000 performances under his direction.
The non-verbal performance of Antología brings together the best scenes from more than 50 years of black light theatre history. The audience has a chance to go back to the roots of this genre and experience a “return of magic, re-awakened fantasy and dreams of trading the boards”. The words of a critic at the British daily The Times in 1962, after seeing the performance at Edinburgh’s Theatre Royal.
The show starts at 8 p.m.
The programme has two parts, divided by an interval, giving you an opportunity to enjoy refreshments in the bar.
The seats in the theatre aren’t numbered. We therefore recommend arriving at least 20 minutes beforehand to guarantee a good position.
