* Reflect on the peace of Advent and the magic of Christmas as you watch a performance of the famous Czech Christmas pastoral mass.* You can also take advantage of an opportunity to admire the Mirror Chapel of the Prague Clementinum, a gem of an interior.
In the Czech Republic, no Christmas wouldn’t be complete without The Czech Christmas Mass by Jakub Jan Ryba. During Advent, it can be heard in churches and at outdoor concerts and other festive-related events. Although the work was written more than 200 years ago, its accessibility and lively spirit still endear it to audiences today. Another undoubted reason for the popularity of the Czech Christmas Mass is that the story of Annunciation is set in a local environment, and the work is performed in Czech.
Please note that the Czech Christmas Mass is often referred to by the names “Rybovka” or by its opening words, “Hej mistře” from the first line “Hej mistře, vstaň bystře”.
* The concert starts at 3 p.m.* The seats in the church aren't numbered. We therefore recommend arriving at least 20 minutes beforehand to guarantee a good position.
