Discover the Prague of Franz Kafka, one of the major writers of the 20th century
Includes: a professional English speaking guide and a drink during a break in a café
"Franz Kafka was Prague and Prague was Franz Kafka", wrote Johannes Urzidil. Indeed, anyone who follows in the footsteps of Franz Kafka’s life is taken straight to the heart of the Czech capital. Kafka is rooted in the soil of Prague to the very depths of his being, and the city emerges everywhere in his work and within himself...
Enjoy a specialised tour with a private guide to discover the places that shaped the mind of one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. You will follow in the footsteps of the famous German-speaking Czech writer from his birthplace, just a few steps from Old Town Square. This beating heart of Prague was a whole world to Kafka during his childhood. You will visit the places inextricably linked to the writer’s life: his childhood, his studies and his professional career, as well as the places where he wrote his major works such as The Trial and The Castle. You will also see a number of statues of the famous Prague writer, including one by David Černý. This immense 11-metre-high head of Kafka is made up of 42 layers of stainless steel sheet that turn on themselves independently of each other.
Immersion in Kafka’s world will be completed by a break in one of the author’s favourite cafés where he used to meet with his writer friends: Max Brod, Rainer Maria Rilke, Egon Erwin Kisch, Franz Werfel, etc. Here you can share a moment of conviviality with your guide, who will answer all your questions.
