The unique diner in the vicinity of the picturesque Petrská quarter mainly caters to Czech cuisine enthusiasts. Pork bellies and puddings are a sure choice here and it is clear that they have been making them for several dozen years. The Indian noodles though, or the lasagna with salmon are not for the faint-hearted.
The restaurant is busiest around noon, more so due to the favorable prices. A main dish can be had for as little as CZK 55 (just over 2 Euros) and soup is CZK 20 (just over 1 EUR). While the lunch menu focuses on heavy carte du jour dishes, the evening menu mostly offers à la carte dishes like grilled trout. It's not only the price of food which is attractive: you would be hard-pressed to find a place in Prague that offers tea for eight Crowns, and where 10-degree beer costs fifteen Crowns.
The Těšnov diner operates on the “on the tray” system, where you get your chosen dish at the window, take it to the counter to pay, and continue to the table with your tray.

Want to know a secret?

Because of the checkered tea towels, hanging flower pots and other elements of the interior, a lot of people label this diner a retro establishment. Even the queue that forms every midmorning will take you 40 years back in time. It moves quite fast though.
